Paolo Maggi: In Praise of Induction... and of Magic. This is the title of the book I was assigned for the single project of the Synthesis Workshop. The essay was written by a virologist from Bari in 2010 and deals with the relationship between science and art, between cold objectivity and the need for human intervention in scientific discovery.Through an in-depth study of the assigned book, the aim was in fact to make a new edition of the book, but to create a "visual book", a book that would visually amplify the meaning of the tome, both in terms of typography and images. From the reading of the essay, I created an "art book", which, starting with the wire binding and ending with the fold-out that shows the entire sequence of images in the book, raises the significance
of Maggi's book.
